Stephen A. Gould

As a business lawyer, Steve has more than 25 years of experience advising and counseling businesses, executive teams, and boards of directors. Steve’s clients rely on him as a trusted and authentic advisor who provides strategic counsel and practical advice to his clients across a broad cross-section of industries including retail, e-commerce, wholesale, consumer products, manufacturing, distribution, logistics, professional services, software, and commercial real estate.  Steve works closely with his clients to help guide them through mergers, dispositions and acquisitions, the negotiation of contracts and leases, counseling them in connection with commercial, private equity or venture capital financings, and providing expertise with all aspects of corporate governance.

As the former Senior Vice President and General Counsel at Brookstone, Steve understands first-hand how companies operate, what legal, ethical, and business hurdles they face, and how to proactively approach those issues to achieve the best possible result.  While at Brookstone, Steve led the company through two Chapter 11 reorganizations, and has extensive legal and practical experience in all aspects of corporate reorganization and/or selling distressed businesses. With his in-house background, Steve often serves as outside general counsel for his clients, adeptly handling many of the day-to-day legal issues that clients seek his guidance to address.

Steve also serves as a member of the board of directors for several companies, has held officer and director positions for several non-profit corporations and served as a member of various advisory panels. Steve is admitted to practice in the State of New Hampshire and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
